MARC MACKINNON
Creative Services
I am a Glasgow-based actor, director, and creative with over ten years of experience working
in rehearsal rooms both as an artist and as part of production teams. I like to see myself as a
"creative jack of all trades" and my skill set has allowed me to provide quality
creative services to a wide variety of projects, whether that be writing original narratives,
directing text-led productions, or providing tailored musical and arrangement services for
contemporary theatre.
Directing & Dramaturgy
After ten years of working on stage professionally both in the UK and internationally as an actor, exploring the other side of the rehearsal table again feels like a natural progression. I know exactly what it feels like to stand in an actor's shoes, I understand how to navigate the practical realities of a fast-moving production, and I have learned how to find the heart of a script. Being an actor has made me well-equipped to lead a room with clarity and curiosity.

Writing & Script Development
What excites me about writing is trying to understand human behaviour and find the rhythm of how people actually talk. After a decade of dissecting scripts from an actor's perspective, I like to think I have a good gauge on structural precision, character logic, and creating dialogue that feels alive to speak.
Scripts & Scripts in Development:
-
Thanks For It All, Mrs Bell | Shortlisted for the David MacLennan Award, A Play, A Pie, and A Pint
-

-
I Got It - An Actor's Tale | Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Musical Composition & Arrangements
Music is never just a decoration in a play; it is part of the storytelling. Because I understand how a production functions as a whole, I approach composition and vocal arrangements as a way to quietly deepen the atmosphere and elevate the text. Whether I am teaching intricate choral harmonies to a cast or writing an original score, I focus on making the process collaborative, intuitive, and supportive of the world the director and actors are building on stage.
